History

Piraeus 1935: Michael Vardavas, founder of our company, starts his career as an optician with a small kiosk, the only one in Greece that possesses the right to sell sunglasses and vision glasses. After a while, this kiosk turns into a small shop sharing its place with a drugstore. And a few years later, the first integrated optical store is created, named "Vardavas Optics".

Athens 1975: Vardavas Optics is extended in Athens and particularly in one of the most central roads, Acadimias street. Michael Vardavas' son, Evripidis Vardavas, having been already an optician since 19 years old, finishes his studies as a surgeon oculist and creates an Ophthalmological Clinic and Institute of Contact Lenses exactly near the Optical Store. Afterwards, Evripidis Vardavas and his wife Anastasia Vardava devote themselves to the dynamic development and organization of the company.

Today, our company is constituted by these two departments in Acadimias street. On the one hand, Vardavas Optics, has become synonymous not only to the best quality of sunglasses, vision glasses and accurate execution of eye prescriptions but also to reliable and responsible customer service. On the other hand, the Ofthalmological Clinic has evolved to a state-of-the-art Diagnostic Eye Center and Institute of Contact Lenses, called "Diavgia Opthalmologiko". The unbreakable connection between the Eye Clinic and Optical Store is one of the main reasons that our company is perceived to be a pioneer in its field.
